
Partap Singh Bajwa, PWD (B&R) Minister, Punjab today honoured Mr. Julius H. Grey, Attorney and Professor of Law, Canada on behalf of the Government of Punjab here in a simple but in an impressive function held at Punjab Bhawan. Mr. Grey has done memorable service to the Sikh Community not only in Canada but whole of western would be successfully pleading the cause of the rights of a community.
It may be mentioned here that Mr. Grey had successfully contested the case of a 12 year Sikh young man named Gurbaj Singh Multani to wear his kirpan at all times as required by his faith and the Supreme Court of Canada decided in favour of the baptized boy that his Kirpan was not in violation of the safety code of the public school that had debarred him form attending classes.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa, listed the achievements of Mr. Grey and appreciated his services for the Sikh Community.
On this occasion Mr. Bajwa presented a Kirpan and a Shawl as a token of Gratitude to Mr. Grey. Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion were Ch. Jagjit Singh, Mr. Sardul Singh, Mr. Amarjit Singh Samra and Mr. Surinder Singla (all Cabinet Minister), Mr. Hans Raj Josan, Minister of State, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi & Mr. M.S. Birmi (both Chief Parliamentary Secretaries) were also present on the occasion.
