Welfare for war widows

Brig. J.S. Jaswal (retd.), Director, Sainik Welfare Punjab today said that Army Headquarter, Delhi would provide scholarship from Army Welfare Corpus to war widows, wards of soldiers died in harness and war disabled. The scholarship includes tuition and other charges, transportation charges, hostel charges, books and stationery (up to Rs. 250 per year student) and school dresses charges. Only those students would be entitled for scholarship, who have obtained 45 percent or more marks, he added.

He further informed that after declaration of results for the year 2005-06 the duly filled forms alongwith required documents should be sent to Adjutant General branch of Army Headquarter, New Delhi before October 31, 2006. The detailed information regarding application forms are available with District Sainik Welfare Offices.

The Director further said that besides education scholarship scheme, the financial assistance for purchase of motorized tri-cycles for war disabled soldiers, for the marriage of their daughters, for the re-marriage of widows and for agri based occupations vocations, dairy development, training & self employment could also be obtained from Army welfare corpus.
