Mr. Vijender Jain, Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Chandigarh, exhorted the Judiciary to play a vital and effective role in mitigating the suffering of the common man by providing easy and speedy justice.
Speaking after unfurling National Flag on Independence Day at Punjab and Haryana High Court, he said this historic day, apart from being a day of celebration was also an occasion for introspection and making assessment of our achievements of last 60 years. It was also a day to ponder over our duties and responsibilities towards our Nation, said Justice Jain.
The Chief Justice said that the Punjab and Haryana High Court had taken lead in the Country by setting up Mobile Courts within its Jurisdiction in Haryana. Speaking on the occasion he said that Punjab Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal has also desired to introduce Mobile Courts in Punjab to provide justice to weaker sections of society at their door steps. He said that Mr. Badal was identifying the areas for Mobile Courts to launch this facility in Punjab at the earliest.
Songs, Cultural Programmes and Bhangra by High Court employees were highlight of the Day. Chief Justice also took part in Bhangra. Later on Chief Justice also inaugurated the escalator in the High Court premises.
