4 Rampura Phul councillors join Congress

Shiromani Akali Dal suffered another major setback on the consecutive second day when four councillors of Municipal council of Rampura Phul, S. Sukhdev Singh of Akali Dal, S.Swaran Singh, Smt. Hardip Kaur and S. Sukhpal Singh independents - supported by Shiromani Akali Dal, had joined Congress here today in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh.

While welcoming these councillors in Congress fold, Capt. Singh said that it was a great occasion and matter of jubilation for all of us when these councillors had joined the Congress Party nurtured with the moral values and ethics, whereas SAD was a party of opportunists and hypocrites to pursue their vested interests thereby grossly ignoring the common man.

It may be mentioned here that youth Akali Dal leader and President of Youth Akali Dal Patiala Kulwinder Singh Lovely had joined Congress yesterday at Patiala along with thousands of his youth SAD workers and supporters in the presence of the Chief Minister thereby expressing solidarity with the Congress Party for its progressive and visionary approach.

On the occasion, S. Sukhdev Singh said that they had joined Congress party due to its visionary approach and people friendly policies, more over it was the sanguine image of Capt. Amarinder Singh that had inspired them all to join congress party. He said that the autocratic style of functioning of Mr. Badal had compelled them to leave SAD as they were feeling suffocated. He said that Congress was the only party that could deliver the goods effectively and fulfil the aspirations of the people through its policies and programmes.
