80,000 5-marla plots for the poor

Keeping in view to provide shelter to each and every homeless, falls under below poverty line, Punjab Govt. would allot five marla plots to 80 thousand beneficiaries in the state.

Disclosing this in a high level meeting S. Lal Singh, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister issued Strict guidelines to all the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) present in the meeting to make a cluster of hundred plots of five marla each and allot the same on war footing.

Mr. Lal Singh further directed them to construct about one Lack Toilets for scheduled castes in the State for which Rs. 60 Crores had been released and another Rs. 60 Crores would be arranged shortly. He said that Rs. 6300 would be spent on each toilet.

He told the officers to conduct special Survey and regulerise the houses already constructed by Scheduled caste on Shamlat lands if the cases were genuine.

Appreciating the timely distribution of old age Pension and other financial assistance to the beneficiaries, Mr. Lal Singh said that Scrutinize the application for old age Pensions and for other financial assistance on quarterly basis instead of help yearly, so that the beneficiary should get assistance timely.

The Minister said that Rs. 500 Crore had already been released under Punjab Nirman Scheme for the over all development of the state. He said that the funds should be utilized timely and development works should be completed in a stipulated time. The Minister further instructed the concerned Officers to Monitor and Supervise the distribution of Wheat meant for BPL Families by Ration Depots of Food and Supply department. So that the Wheat should reach in right hands.

Prominent among others who addressed the meeting includes Sh. KBS Sidhu, Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayat and Sh. Sarvjit Singh, Director Rural Development and Panchayat and others senior officers.
