The Punjab Government has decided to ban the release or exhibition of the English movie 'Da Vinci Code' in the state in order to maintain communal harmony, peace and tranquility.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the Department of Home Affairs & Justice Punjab said that the above decision was taken after the Christian community had expressed their strong resentment against the alleged objectionable contents of this movie. So there was a possibility of violent confrontation at some places, particularly those having sizeable population of the Christians, he added. It is mentioned here that the above named controversial movie was going to release in the state of Punjab on 26 th May, 2006.
