One act play winner honoured

Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh today honoured the members of the drama team of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Girls College, Chandigarh with a cash prize of Rs.50,000 for winning the Ist position in the category of One Act Play during National Youth Festival - February 2006 held at Patna.

On the occasion, Capt. Singh commended the members of the team for bringing laurels for Punjab and asked them to further excel in the curricular activities and strive hard to promote the rich cultural heritage of Punjab.

Giving information about the events, Brig.G.J.Singh, Director Youth Services Punjab said that the Punjab State Team comprising of 64 participants headed by Mr.S.P.Kalyan were sent to participate in XIth National Youth Festival held at Patna (Bihar) from 13-17 February 2006. The contingent participated in 11 events and bagged 1st and 2nd position in One Act Play and Elocution, thereby winning cash award of Rs.10000 and Rs.7500 respectively.

Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Principal Secretary Youth & Sports R.P.S.Pawar and Deputy Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rakesh Ahir.
