projects worth 12000 crore cleared

EMPOWERED COMMITTEE APPROVES 43 NEW MEGA PROJECTS
WORTH RS.12370.38 CRORE



CHANDIGARH, JUNE 1:

The Empowered Committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh today approved 43 new mega projects which included 27 industrial and 16 housing & township projects with an investment of Rs.12370.38 crore thereby generating employment potential for about 29000 persons.

Disclosing this here today the spokesman of the Punjab Government said that the Empowered Committee had approved the proposal of M/s. Reliance One world Ltd. for setting up of a mega world class SEZ spread over more than 5000 acres with a direct investment of more than Rs.5000 crore for exploring Punjabi's gross state product manifold, including food & agri products, auto and engineering, garments and apparel etc.

The committee also approved M/s Class India Limited which is 100% subsidiary of Class KGaA MbH Germany to set up a Greenfiled Facility in Punjab either in the free economic zone or on Kharar-Morinda-Ludhiana road or adjoining area for manufacturing combined harvesters and agri machinery components for global sourcing. The project would provide direct employment to about 200 to 300 persons and would be set up over 10 hectares of land with total project cost of Rs.112.24 crore.

The empowered committee also approved 2 industrial parks to be developed by M/s Intercity Property Promoters and M/s Senior Builders Ltd. Besides 6 multiplex projects to be promoted by M/s Mohali Infrastructures Ltd., M/s Aeren R.Buildcon Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi, M/s Guru Nanak Paper Mills Ltd. and M/s Collage Estates Pvt. Ltd., M/s Advance India Projects Ltd., New Delhi and M/s Rayat & Bahra Institutes Pvt. Ltd. and 8 hotel projects to be developed by M/s Mohali Infrastructures Ltd., M/s Ambika Resorts Pvt. Ltd., M/s K.C.Land & Finance Ltd., M/s V.M.Hotels & Resorts, M/s Aeren R.Buildcon Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi, Macrame Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi M/s Guru Nanak Paper Mills Ltd. and M/s Advance India Projects Ltd, New Delhi were also approved in the meeting. Apart from these, out of 16 mega Housing & Township projects, 9 would be set up in Mohali, 3 each in Amritsar & Patiala and 1 in Ludhiana.

The spokesman further said that the empowered committee had so far approved 203 mega projects in its various meetings with total investment of Rs.73052.38 crore. The projects sanctioned earlier in the districts of Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Bathinda, Ropar, Mohali, Patiala, Hoshiarpur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Moga, Kapurthala and Sangrur were under various stages of implementation.

Prominent amongst others who were present in the meeting included Local Government Minister Ch.Jagjit Singh, PWD (B&R) Minister Partap Singh Bajwa, Excise & Taxation Minister Sardul Singh, Transport Minister Mohinder Singh Kaypee, Housing & Urban Development Minister Raghunath Sahay Puri, Animal Husbandry Minister Jagmohan Singh Kang, Parliamentary Secretary Industries K.P.Rana, Chief Secretary K.R.Lakhanpal, Financial Commissioner K.K.Bhatnagar, Principal Secretary Excise & Taxation Mukal Joshi, Principal Secretary Industries S.C.Aggarwal, Chairman PSEB Y.S.Ratra and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Suresh Kumar.
