Perneet Kaur, Member Parliament laid the foundation stone of 100% coverage of drinking water and Sewerage projects for Zirakpur and Dera Bassi Towns under Municipal Development Fund at Zirakpur today.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion Maharani Parneet Kaur said that Punjab Govt. is fully committed to provide 100% coverage of drinking water & sewerage facilities in all towns.
She disclosed here that the total cost of these projects would be 17.35 crore which included Rs. 3.63 crore for water supply and Rs. 13.72 crore for sewerage projects, she also informed that presently 11 tubewells were already working to supply fresh drinking water to the 75% population of these towns and 4 more tubewells would be installed to cover 100% population. She said that under this project 64.94 km. Sewerage line would be constructed to ensure 100% coverage in these towns.
She further said that with the elevation of S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) as 18th district, the importance of Zirakpur and Dera Bassi have been increased in manifold. The State Govt. had sanctioned 161 mega projects at an investment of Rs. 6300 crore thereby providing jobs about 12 laks youth & most of these projects would be setup in district Mohali & therefore the up gradation of Physical as well social existing infrastructure & it was the need of hour to boost the overall development of Mohali District. She also said that many ultra modern housing projects are coming at Zirakpur & Dera Bassi to meet the ever-rising demand of the housing.
Earlier she also inaugurated the installation work of tubewell. Later talking to the media persons she emphasized the need to diversify the present paddy wheat crop rotation with vegetables and fruit growing. She also said that reliance (RIL) had decided to established 52 hubs and 250 sub centers in the state to help the farmers in adopting diversification.
Replying to another question she said that SAD & BJP & other political parties were trying to mislead the public just to won the votes by criticizing RIL issue. She said that media could play a healthy role with positive approach because Punjab Govt. had adopted people friendly programmes and policies.
Prominent amongst others who attended the function included Mr. Tejvir Singh Singh, Deputy Commissioner S.A.S. Nagar, Mr. Deepinder Singh Dhillon, Vice President PSIDC, Mrs. Sheelam Sohi, Mr. Narinder Sangha, SDM Dera Bassi and others Senior Officers of the administration.
