Shortage of staff in Punjab forests

While presiding over high-level meeting of Chief Conservators officers & Distt. Forests officers here today, Mr. Hans Raj Jossan, Minister of state for forests said that Punjab Government has decided to strengthen the forest department in near future to provide required staff and basic infrastructure.

During the meeting the filed officer said that due to shortage of staff they face difficulty during the night patrolling to check the theft of forest wood. They also demanded that red light should be allowed on the official vehicles used during the night patrolling. They further demanded that the department should consider complaints on affidavits only to check the practice of false complaints made against the employees of the department.

Mr. D.S. Jaspal, Principal Secretary Forest assured the officer to the problems faced by their genuine demands would be considered to review the progress of the departments quarterly meeting will be held.

Prominent among others who attended the meeting were Mr. A.S. Dogra, Principal Chief Conservator Forests Mr. D.S. Saroya, Additional Secretary Forests and other Senior Officers of the Department.
